The Science/Fiction of Human Enhancement (2013) brings in multiple, competing theories of the relationships between technology and embodiment, focusing on questions of whether and how some bodies ought to be cured or enhanced, and what is the appropriate ethical framework to make these kinds of decisions (including who gets to make them).

What are some of the competing theories of bodily enhancement in the film? What are some of the overlaps between the film and Judith Butler’s essay, “Doing Justice to Someone: Sex Reassignment Surgery and Allegories of Transsexuality” (1993)?
