Feminist education

This chapter revisits the promises of feminist education and discusses how feminist practices may improve the quality of women’s lives. It addresses contemporary life in the U.S., discusses activism and the way individuals, groups, and communities can work to effect change, and explores issues associated with feminist activism. This chapter addresses feminist visions, overviews social trends that have implications for the future, and explores what it might mean to live with feminist-inspired integrity.

Answer the following question fully in 5-7 sentences each:

1.  Revisit the promises of feminist education. What are its goals and missions? What is meant by counter-hegemonic education?

2.  Why does simply increasing women’s participation and leadership not necessarily imply a more egalitarian future?

3.  How have your thoughts of feminism changed since taking this course?
